Born in Chicago, Craig Bove received a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University and completed his studies with the acquisition of a a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has studied composition with Morton Feldman, David Felder, Donald Erb, Bernard Rands, and others. He has received several awards including Meet the Composer grants, Fromm Foundation awards, American Music Center awards, and Presser Foundation grants. Bove currently teaches music history and composition while he remains active as a composer and performer nationwide.
